Scaling the open coding agent into a real company.
At Cline, my focus was accelerating the development of a world-class AI team and pushing agentic coding toward production-ready applications. The common thread throughout the work was a commitment to innovation and the improvement of engineering practices.
Competing with the most funded companies in venture capital.
Cline's goal was to democratize access to sophisticated engineering tools, empowering a new generation of developers to create transformative technologies. My role was to help turn that ambition into operating rhythm: hiring, execution, product feedback loops, analytics, and applied AI delivery.
- Joined Cline to be the first AI engineer and ended up leading the company as Head of Operations.
- Scaled the team to 45 people while maintaining high hiring standards.
- Managed multiple engineering teams and the product team to align efforts with enterprise data strategies.
- Helped scale company revenue by millions of dollars.
- Implemented a product analytics and telemetry strategy to monitor agent performance in real-world applications.
- Pushed the boundaries of Agentic AI coding to develop production-ready applications, enhancing our technological capabilities.
Cline is an open-source AI coding agent for developers working in editors, terminals, and SDK-based workflows. It brings a human-in-the-loop agent into real software projects: reading codebases, planning changes, editing files, running commands, and helping developers move from prompt to production.
